Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how Quiz-Foot collects, uses, and protects users' personal data in our football quiz application.

Data Collection

We only collect data necessary for the operation of our application. If you create a profile, we store your username, email address, and age range (via Supabase) to allow you to track your performance, appear on leaderboards, and produce aggregated audience statistics. If you play without an account, we may ask for your age range after a game to tailor displayed content (partners, statistics) and avoid showing sports betting advertising to minors. Your age range is never shown publicly. This data is stored securely and is not sold to third parties. However, if you click on a Decathlon affiliate link, browsing information may be transmitted to Rakuten Advertising and Decathlon for commission tracking.

Challenge links and score sharing

When you share your score with a challenge link, we store your score, division reached, quiz language, a unique link identifier (token), and optionally your username. No email address is required to create a challenge as an anonymous player. These links expire automatically after 30 days. We count the number of link views (view_count) for statistical purposes. Non-expired challenges are publicly accessible via their token; expired challenges are no longer available.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to analyze site usage and improve user experience. Google Analytics uses Consent Mode v2, which is GDPR compliant. Here's how it works:

Affiliate links and advertising

At the end of a game, we may display affiliate links to Decathlon (sports equipment), managed through the Rakuten Advertising network. In the future, gambling partners (sports betting) may be shown only to users aged 18 and over. These links are clearly identified as such. Quiz-Foot may earn a commission if you make a purchase or sign up with a partner, at no extra cost to you.

Gambling partners

Quiz Foot may offer links to licensed sports betting operators (e.g. Unibet). Gambling advertising is prohibited to minors. We only show this content to users who have declared an age range of 18 or over. Playing the quiz remains available without an account, including for under-15s; only account creation requires users to be 15 or older.

Affiliation and third-party cookies

Decathlon affiliate links go through Rakuten Advertising (click.linksynergy.com). No affiliate cookie is placed until you click on a link. After a click, Rakuten Advertising and Decathlon may place cookies or trackers on their domain to measure conversions and attribute commissions. Links to Third-Party Sites

Our football quiz app may contain links to third-party websites, some of which are paid affiliate links. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these external sites. We encourage users to read the privacy policies of any third-party site before sharing personal information.

Legal bases for processing

Under GDPR, each processing activity relies on a legal basis:

• Account (email, username, scores, leaderboards): contract performance — necessary to provide the service.
• Age range (account): legitimate interest — verify account eligibility (minimum age 15) and produce aggregated audience statistics. Age range (guest player): legal obligation (no gambling advertising to minors) and legitimate interest (aggregated audience statistics).
• Analytics cookies (Google Analytics): consent — placed only if you accept via the banner.
• Marketing emails (weekly digest, challenge alerts): consent — optional opt-in at signup.
• Affiliate cookies (Rakuten / Decathlon): consent — placed only after clicking an affiliate link.

Data retention periods

We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described:

• Account data (profile, scores, age range): until you delete your account.
• Challenge links: 30 days after creation, then automatically deleted.
• Cookie consent preference: 13 months (CNIL recommendation).
• Google Analytics data: according to Google's policy (see link above).

Sub-processors

We use the following providers to host and operate the service:

• Supabase (database, authentication) — profile and session storage.
• Vercel (web application hosting).
• Google Analytics (audience measurement, if consent granted).
• Transactional email service (welcome emails, notifications if opted in).
• Rakuten Advertising / Decathlon (affiliate conversion tracking, after click).

Transfers outside the European Union

Some sub-processors (notably Vercel and Google, based in the United States) may process data outside the EU. These transfers are governed by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) adopted by the European Commission or equivalent safeguards offered by these providers.

In accordance with GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right of access: You can request to know what data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: You can request correction of inaccurate data.
• Right to erasure: You can request deletion of your personal data.
